Interstate program "Goris - the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of 2018" was launched in Armenia
On July 7, the Intergovernmental program "Goris - the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of 2018" was launched. The beginning of the program was based on the opening in Goris of the monument "Sanger" (Bells), as well as the exhibition ART EXPO, in which the participating countries in particular presented traditional crafts.
For his part, the special representative of the Russian president for international cultural cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoi, praised the implementation of the program in Goris. He expressed hope that the current year will be interesting for Goris. "The interest in this program is great, and I hope that this will be an important event in the life of both the CIS and the city itself," Shvydkoi added.
Executive Director of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund of the CIS member states Anatoly Iksanov noted that Goris is the 14th city that became the Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth. "It is important for us to get acquainted with the culture of this beautiful land," he said, adding that next year Brest (Belarus) will become the cultural capital of the Commonwealth.
July 7 in Goris, within the framework of the program, there will be a mulberry festival, a joint concert of musicians of symphony orchestras of the CIS countries, as well as DJ Fest.
